Not giving many cookbooks, but giving a few people Poppy Tooker's Pascal Manale's Cookbook. I have it. I haven't been all the way through it, but I'm enjoying the history etc...

My birthday was in October, so I got most of the big 2018 ones I wanted plus some other random ones.

Chasing the Gator is definitely on the list. Yotam Ottolenghi has a new book, and I have all of his others, so I’m sure I’d enjoy the new one.

I also really want Bravetart’s Iconic American Desserts. I don’t even bake but I love everything Bravetart.

I don’t have a give list Nobody I know cares.

updated copy of the Food Board Cookbook. printed, hole punched, and put into a binder in the copy room at work. all on company dollar.

What kind of cook are you? IOW, do you need basic instructions, or are you competent yet want to improve, or are you looking to be adventurous?
For the first two, Kenji Lopez-Alt’s The Food Lab is a good choice.

Best to start? The Food Lab by Kenji Lopez Alt. It’s him testing the best methods for almost anything you can think of. Very science heavy.

He’s the guy from Serious Eats.

Haha - hungryone beat me

i'm on his website a lot. i love that it's more of a dive into the why instead of just step by step.

If you need ideas, Mark Bittman’s How to Cook Everything (and how to cook everything vegetarian) can help to suggest new things.

I've said this in here before and I feel it's worth repeating since you're talking Christmas gift cookbooks.

The "Talk About Good" 2 book series is an excellent choice if you want to learn many of the dishes that make La. cuisine so unique.

@Rogue, I'll have to give that one a good look-see. I love cookbooks that detail La. cooking.
