Staying at the Marriot on Assembly. What's good to eat around here?

There is a bbq buffet called Three Little Pigs I used to stop at when in Columbia. Not sure how far it is from you.

Motor Supply Co. may be the best restaurant in the city; great southern fare. It’s close to Assembly and Gervais. Warmouth is a cool spot off of North Main St, and my favorite barbecue buffet in that area is Palmetto Pig, which is right next to the basketball arena on campus. Hunter Gatherer is a neat gastropub on South Main. I grew up there and get back a few times and year and make it a priority to get to at least one of the places when back w family.

thanks for the suggestions.wish i had seen this an hour ago. Concierge her suggested California Dreaming. what a disappointment. Had fried flounder and it's like seasoning didn't exist in that place. Place was really nice and the wait staff were very nice, polite and professional. was just 1/4 mile down the street which was nice but the food was not good at all. Motor Supply Co. looks like a little less than a mile. might try that for dinner.

Went there last September and went to
Southern Belly BBQ-It was good but not great
Twisted Spur-went for brunch, but it was so good, I am guessing other meals would be as well.
Hickory Tavern-I'd pass on the food. Atmosphere was good
Eggs Up Grill-Breakfast was fantastic

Find a Lizard's Thicket and smash some meat and threes.

Pot Smoker BBQ off pf Park Street in the Vista. You could actually walk there. Best BBQ in Cola, and I say that as someone who smokes something every weekend.
Cantina 76 is right there on main, and pretty good tacos. Bonus is all the servers there are USC students and hot as hell.
East Bay Deli right next to you is pretty good too for a quick sandwich.
If you like ramen (real ramen that is) Menkoi Ramen House on Gervais is amazing..and cheap.
For a burger, you can't beat Pawley's Front Porch in Five Points.
If you're craving Japanese, Camon on the corner of Assembly and Washington is really, really good.

good call on Motor Supply Co.
The pork loin and bbq beans were excellent. And not very expensive. The only negative i have is that the portions are small. it was basically like a 1/2 inch boneless pork chop. Was so good i ordered another one.
Lot's of USC talent there as well.
Thanks for the rec.

Glad you enjoyed it! If you have time and can get a few miles, Craft and Draft is a great place for local/regional beer

Also, there should be NO fat students at this school. Everything seems to be uphill.
