Coarse grits?

So I went to a restaurant called What the gritz here in Virginia and decided on a crab cake Benedict with some hash browns. Seeing as how the place had grits in the name is figured I might as well get a side of that as well.
To my surprise the grits we're really coarse. Not quite as coarse as an Israeli cous cous but almost that coarse. Something about the texture just didn't sit well with me. Was sort of bland too. Anyone ever had grits like this?

Love coarse or stone ground grits. You can cook them longer, or with more cream to soften them up a bit.

Definitely not but I have enjoyed some of the food here. Had a really good pizza today for lunch.
