Chili with super peppers not turning out hot

What the hell am I missing here? Made a crock pot of chili with this recipe, LINK< added 5 Ghost Peppers, decently hot, nothing absurd like I expected.
Made the same recipe with 1/5th a bottle of the Dave's Insanity ++ Sauce and 2 Carolina reapers. Both peppers came from different vendors. Wasn't hot at all, the ghost pepper version was hotter by far.
I assumed with the level these things are at the amounts I used would be enough.

Are you using the entire pepper or removing seeds and pith before adding?

Coming to ask the same thing. The true heat of peppers is in the seeds and pith. When I make my hot sauces using habanero, ghost, Trinidad Scorpion Butch T's, etc. I never remove the seeds and pith.

Entire pepper, toss it on the chopping board cut it up a bit and toss it in. Put one in initialy when it turned it all on, then tossed another in 4 hours later into a 7 hour cook.

Cool story bro, it's not, it's not that the chili simply isn't hot to me, it's not at the level anyone would expect.
The 5 ghost pepper chili was taken into a pot luck, people obviously found it spicy, but not 5 ghost pepper hot.
The 2 carolina reaper version my wife who hates spicy food was snacking on.
