selling a beer there that was somehow unique and not sold at most establishments?
I know, weird question.

No, I was too young back then. I do remember my grandmother bringing us for a special occasion and she had a house credit. It was a paper card and her number was like 28 or some shite. What a memory.

That's the one.
As for beer, couldn't you just grab your own St. Pauli Girl from the fridge and tell the waitress? The last time I went there was years before Katrina, so my memories of the place are a bit fuzzy.

You would just go pull them from the fridge yourself and tell the waitress. Honor system.

I don't remember the beer from Charlie's specifically - but I do know a couple bars or restaurants have/had something set up with Anheuser-Busch (or another major) to sell them unique branded alcohol specific to that restaurant.
I always wondered if they were all the same, and if it was just regular Bud or a different recipe. I remember the Fox & Hound had one back in the day, and it definitely tasted better than normal Bud.
