The tip wasn't 30%...it was 20%. I checked the math and multiplying something by .2 isn't hard. They literally scratched out the auto gratuity and marked it at almost half that amount after sitting for lunch for almost 3 1/2 hours keeping the server there for the duration of time he would typically have to take a break before the dinner shift. You can hear one side of a story and I can visually state I saw the other since I was a direct witness.
And yes I am referring to the policy that was stated on the menus where the servers automatically add the gratuity if the checks are requested to be separated. That was literally one of the only times in my history there where a customer actually complained about the process of adding gratuity. If anything, the more generous guests actually asked the server if they could add more as they felt the service justified a larger tip.
And as far as some thoughts on me, I'm sure not everything is positive as I am not perfect. Everyone has something that they can work to make better and I had many talks throughout my time of things I could do to make myself better. Humility is likely one of them as I am a very proud person of my knowledge. But I can honestly say in the 6 years I was there, I was a very hard worker, devoted to our regulars like a family member, at the restaurant almost every day of the week, and did everything I could during my duration there to make the restaurant hopefully a better and more efficiently run operation that when I got there. I was on friendly terms with my staff and a very forgiving manager, as taught by my superiors, allowing my team to learn from their mistakes rather than taking their job. I return to visit then almost every time I'm back in the city and always have a great time catching up with everyone.

Well you are pretty much nothing more than a liar. First, I know my wife never in her life - has sat for 3.5 hours for any meal with or without me. Not for me, you, her dead mother or anyone else. And if for some reason you remember and can "visually state" whatever the frick that means, a patron from at least 3-4 years ago I'm thinking I'm not going out on a limb in the creepy wine guy scenario. I can also state my wife, nor her companion, complained to the server. They mentioned it to me later that afternoon.
So keep your little charade up, sell that box wine and share that sack of dicks with Paul.

I clearly remember lunch starting around 12/1230 and lasting til 330. Why...not because I'm a creepy wine guy, because I was a caring manager. And they didn't complain to the server, they just thought it ok to stay silent and scratch out the added gratuity and decide what they wanted to tip. I only remember this because of your glorious tiger droppings post severely stretching the truth.
And as far as boxed wine goes, I don't peddle those wares. My portfolio is expansive from grand cru burgundies and first growth Bordeaux, to cult napa wines, some of the greatest producers of Spain and Italy, phenomenal wines of Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina, chile, Australia, New Zealand, Hungary, Slovenia, Macedonia, Austria, and damn near any other country you can put your finger on. But you keep thinking your ability to buy and drink expensive napa wines equates to actual knowledge. And you seem very adamant about men and sacks of dicks. Is there something you want to tell us? TD can be your safe place since that seems to be a thing nowadays.

Outside of being a name calling Neanderthal, I'm not exactly sure how this relates to the discussion. Care to elaborate instead of being a keyboard warrior?

Bringing another mans wife into a thread is a slippery slope my friend. I'll politely advice you to stop while you are ahead. Beyond the keyboard is not somewhere you would like to go.
I trust I'm making myself clear.
