Cast Iron Deflector Plates? Kamado Style grills?

For the second time now I've dropped and cracked my deflector plate in my PitBoss ceramic. Previously I had replaced it with a cheap one from Amazon, the XL BGE size plates fit, however those have been out of stock for months now.

I was looking around today and saw that there's a cast iron deflector plate and was wondering if anyone had any experience with these? Maintenance? I'm assuming I'd have to keep it seasoned pretty regularly but I like that it doubles as a cooking surface.
