We went to Bova instead of Mike’s as well this past summer based on local Uber driver’s recommendation. It was a fantastic little hole in the wall out of the way place. We also did Nico Ristorante on his recommendation and we loved it as well.

I like local hole in wall type places but anyone serving good food for a good price

Ok well then ignore all of the places I recommended earlier.

A lot of the "hole in the wall" places I know are in parts of the city you likely won't be in, simply because there's no reason as a visitor to be in East Boston, Dorchester, etc.

Check out Yankee Lobster and then walk over to Harpoon for a beer. That might fit the bill.

If it's a weekday at lunchtime and you're in the North End, grab a slice of pizza at Galleria Umberto (another cash-only place). It's definitely a hole in the wall on Hanover street and slices are something like $2. Only open for lunch.

Edit: I don't know what you consider a "good price", but I'll warn you that eating and drinking (especially the drinking) isn't cheap, unfortunately. Happy hour is illegal and most restaurants in the city are more "upscale" and also have to be able to afford the exorbitant real estate prices to stay in business.

Thanks for the pointers. Good prices would be say $6-$7 apps vs $16 apps, entrees in the 20 something dollar range vs the 40 something's

Happy hour is illegal here in Boston but weed isn't? Crazy world we live in (I'm not against weed being legal btw)

Yes it’s quite ironic.
