What do you expect in a city where Fluer de Lis Pizza is held on a pedastal?

That place makes service at Cafe Americain look like Commanders Palace.

Are you sure her sickness had to do with the food? This is one thing people most commonly assume. Food poisining can set in anywhere from a few hours-48 hours. Not sure you are wrong. It's just something most people jump to conclusion on. They eat somewhere and get sick so they blame it on the place where they ate.

As for the service, I can understand you being upset with that.

the cafe americain over here in my part of town closed down about six months ago .. their build your own pasta was actually damn good and their burgers and fish dishes weren't bad either ... the food has never been the problem to me (although it sounds like mike's grandmother would disagree with me) ... it has always been their mind numbingly AWFUL AWFUL service ... it was the only restaurant in BR where i would fairly consistently see people order food .. twiddle their thumbs for 20 to 30 minutes .. and then slap some cash on the table for their drinks and leave ... i have seen people seated that eventually got up and left because no one would so much as acknowledge their existence ... i think i have said this many times, i don't sit at tables unless i am in a big party and have no choice .. but if it is me and two or three friends, we'll sit at the bar ... table service in BR in general is just too horrible to hand some idiot a 25% tip because they decided to show up for work .. i would rather give that to a hard working bartender that actually appreciates it and shows it in the service they give any day of the week ... well, even the service at the fricking bar at that place is horrible ... how do you have a bar with a bartender that could care less about serving drinks ?? why fricking even have a bar ... ?? that's right -- we would get horrible service at the bar when we were the only people up there a lot of times ... i would talk to management and ownership countless times about this and they would always play lip service to it, but nothing ever got done ... i agree with all posters in here in marveling that the jefferson location even still exists ... it is truly sad to see someone piss away a decent product with moronic management ..
