For me, absolutely.
I buy from a local farmer, usually a half at a time.
$4.50/LB.
There's a cost benefit, but I also like never having to go to the store for beef.
The customization is a big deal for me.
I can specify how large I want my ground meat packs.
I can specify thickness of steaks.
I get liver cut into small pieces, since I'm the only person who eats it.
I get all the bones they'll give me, too.

I like the custom cut aspect as well. Give me all those shanks, oxtail, etc.
I’m fine w/frozen beef, as long as it’s been properly packaged & handled. It does require planning skills to defrost what you need....so if you have no home eccy skills and find yourself in the kitchen at 6 pm without a clue what to cook for dinner, a whole lotta frozen beef is probably not a good choice for you.
