Going to be in Bristol for a few days for work. Any good places to eat and drink? Breweries?

Also, anything specific I should or see when I have down time?

The area is not really a food destination but there are some solid restaurants.

Ridgewood BBQ is a bit of a drive but it has good bbq. Machiavelli's has some decent Italian. If you want something sweet, I enjoyed Blackbird Bakery.

If you're looking for things to do, I would recommend touring the NASCAR track, even if you aren't a fan it's an interesting facility. I'd also recommend a stroll down state street.

For beer, there's the Holston River Brewing Company and the Bristol Station Brews & Taproom. Honestly though, if you want breweries, I would recommend just making the drive to Asheville.

You either love or hate Ridgewood. Sign me up to team it’s garbage.

I travel all over the SE USA and if I get within an hour of Ridgewood BBQ, I'm going....the beef sandwich and beans are a slam dunk.

Yeah. It was decent bbq but it did not live up to the hype of the locals.
