No 45 min, granted the pot usually cools off after dumping the potatoes in and takes a little bit to get going again but I've actually had to wait even longer then 45. I'm also prob dumping 20-30 lbs of potatoes at the min.

Jesus dude take your meds..
You posted your recipe 2x now that had the amount of salt wrong two times..
If you are going to continue to say POUNDS instead of number of containers just say you use almost 5 pounds of salt or 3 containers.

2 1/2 - 3LBS - Salt (DEPENDING ON TASTE.WE LIKE THEM SALTY)
2-2 1/2 CUPS - Cayenne
1 CUP - Garlic powder

1 12OZ - Zatarain's liquid crab boil
6 BAGS - Zatarain's dry crab boil (I KNOW IT SOUNDS LIKE OVER KILL BUT IT JUST ADDS A TOUCH MORE FLAVOR WITH THE WHOLE CORIANDER SEEDS)
1 DOZEN - Lemons halved and juice squeezed into water before boiling.
1 DOZEN - Med. size onions halved
1 BUNCH - Celery (3-5 STALKS CUT UP)
6-12 - Heads of garlic (WE LIKE A LOT)

Ohhhhh, I'm so sorry for this dreadful mistake. Please accept my humblest apology. I'll be sure to say "boxes" or "1LB, 10oz" next time as to not piss you off so much. BTW, I find it a little creepy that you Joxied my name to prove such a meaningless point. Says a lot about you.
eta: I went back and edited the recipes, even the one from 2008, just for you sweetie. :kisses:

Dude what set you off?
I ASKED ONLY if the amount of salt in the other person's recipe was a typo?? Seriously..
Just under 5 pounds of salt is an extremely large quantity of salt for 1 sack of crawfish.
THE TITLE of this thread is
Getting quantities correct and making sure they are listed correctly for the new guy is pretty important in this thread.
When you post 2.5-3 pounds of salt that sounds about right to me since 2.5-3 pounds of salt is about what every commercial brand uses. I dont know anyone that throws 5 pounds of salt in their boil. So I asked for clarification. Sorry it upsets you.

Are you saying 45 min of boil time or 45 total? Once you cool the pot nothing is really cooking anymore just soaking. The 15 min people are referring to is boil time. Im sure most are doing in the 10 pound range for potato as wll and not 20-30 pounds which would cool the water much more.

So actually, if he followed my recipe the original way I had it up there he would have been fine right? I don't get your beef here.
As for the actual amount of salt that's YOUR opinion. Stop saying the shite as if it's 100% fact. I make good crawfish, no one complains and that's all that really matters isn't it?
eta: Also, I generally don't like crawfish when people use the commercial blends. So there's that too...

If you think "3 1 LB of salt" = 4.9pounds of salt and not 3 pounds of salt and the majority of people would see it that way as well and that makes you a happy lil camper then fine.

So yes then?
eta: Btw, I'm not sure I can quit this thread thanks to you.

You're a good sport Catman. I like you. You've taught me so much in this one thread like pay attention when giving out recipes. It's a life or death situation.

Been doing it for 3 generations in my family. We're all fine bruh. You do realize that you don't actually consume the whole 5lbs right?

Im guessing the olive oil is like using a stick of butter for some people. Thats been talked about.

I've never eaten any where someone did this. It doesn't make them a little greasy?
Posted on 4/20/11 at 11:46 am to Tigerdew
I tried it to see if it made any difference in one pot.. Didnt peel any different. Didnt really notice any difference at all really. Maybe a couple were greasy..
