Picked up some boiled crawfish and shrimp Friday night. Have some left over. Would you eat them or toss them tomorrow ?

The crawfish are still in the shell?

Yes all unpeeled. I’m usually cavalier when it comes to eating food that’s been in the fridge. Especially if I cooked it. But I’ll yield to the CW of the board on boiled shellfish.

4 days is a general rule of thumb for leftovers. 5-6 days are probably fine, but not recommended.

Would I eat them? Yes.

Would I eat them if I was pregnant, elderly, had kidney disease, had a weakened immune system, etc.? Frick no.

Spoilage bacteria are an amazing thing as most produce a smell to warn you not to eat it. Always smell the food. You are not guaranteed to smell anything if it is bad, but if it smells off or bad, throw it out. “When in doubt, throw it out.”

I will peel all the tails and eat them as a snack for a week sometimes. Next day is fine.
