Anyone have one? Aluminum vs ceramic?

Just an interesting departure from the normal ceramic but find the lid connection to be interesting instead of the gaskets

I never heard of them until now. Frick they are expensive.

On the Aluminum topic, I know a few baws here in Little Rock that use the PK 360 and really like it. Say it holds temps well. Runs about $800.

The expense had me shaking my head too - That is what I could not figure out is what is the advantage

The cast aluminum will never wear out, I know some people who are rocking the same PK for like 30 years.

I do like the idea of not having to mess with gaskets.

I have the PK360 and I like it. Wish it had more real estate though. Bought it instead of the Blaze because of the cost and the good reviews.

I went check out the blaze kamado at BBQ guys and its pretty nice but not as thick as they claim. I remember it being pretty thick up by the lid but it really thinned out towards the bottom near the vent.

I'm really interested in the Goldens cast iron kamado but I've never had the chance to see one in person.

Those PKs are sweet, but do they offer an advantage over a Weber Kettle? You can get a kettle, SnS, and a DigiQ and still have hundreds left over.

I saw a couple of comparison videos between a Weber Kettle, Rec Tec, and a Summit charcoal. The Kettle doesn't win any of the comparisons, but it holds its own, and costs a fraction of what the others cost.

Build quality, but not much other than that. Its a tank compared to a kettle. I do find that the PK is a little more stable holding temps too. Probably due to the thicker aluminum casting. My other grill is a kettle with an SNS, and I use them both.

I’m working on 12+ years on my PK original. Only thing I’ve had to do was replace the grates because I was lazy about cleaning it and it rusted out. Other than that the rest of it looks like the day I took it out the box.
