Me and the lady decided to go to BJ's for lunch on Saturday. While I've heard many other people talk about having bad service there, the 2 or 3 times I had been in the past the service was always pretty good. Saturday was awful....The place wasn't all that busy, but it took our server about 5-10 minutes before coming to take our initial order. The food came out quick, and tasted fine, but I asked for a cup of ranch for my pizza and it took over 10 minutes for the server to bring it. When she finally dropped it off at the table, I had about 1 sip of drink left and she didn't bother asking if I wanted a refill. Finally, another 5-10 goes by and she comes back and asks if we want coffee or dessert when we both still had half of our meals left. I had to ask for more drink, which took so long that I ended up going to the bar and getting it myself. When she finally showed up with the water she didn't bother apologizing and just sorta looked at us like we were stupid for going to get it ourselves.

I'll give them a pass this time, and just mark it up to a bad server, but if it continues I'll mark this place off the list.

That sucks. I've only been once and the food was really good, but it took forever to get our food, so they comped our appetizer. Made both of us happy.

You had one sucky waitress and the "service is slipping", a bit dramatic don't you think?

Yea, when BJ's served our food to the table next to ours then tried to bring it in the back and re-serve it to us we decided we wouldnt be back....

The last time I went, the hostess was extremely rude. She got pissed when I asked for a child's seat for my two year old and never brought us a kid's menu...

My wife went and asked for one (kid's menu) and the hostess rolled her eyes at her like it was a big deal.

Also, it took about 15-20 minutes before the server initially came to our table.

maybe i am just an exception to the rule, but i eat there fairly regularly and, after their initial three months of getting a lot of kinks worked out, i have never had bad service and have found the staff to be very friendly and courteous .. and to the guy whose food was served to the wrong table ... did they put the plates down turn around and then come back a few seconds later and realize this or did they leave the food, the people took bites out of it and then they tried to bring it to you ?? there is kind of huge gray area to your story there ..

This is actually the first time I've had bad service there. I think I just got a bad server who didn't feel like doing a damn thing. I'll give the place another shot for sure.

I've been three times. All three times the service was very poor. The food is very average as well. Add that the menu is the size of a small book. Maybe they should focus on doing 20-30 things really well instead of 150 things just average.

Place got three strikes. I'll never go back unless it's a party or someone is buying me a meal.

No offense taken. Here's the deal with BJ's. It's just not that good. Your typical average chain food. They make a good deep dish but that's all. The service has been extremely poor when I have gone. I have been a total of four times: 3 at night and 1 for lunch. I was a waiter an college. Because of this I am pretty sympathetic to waiters, but when a place is dead and service is still dreadful then I'm going to get annoyed.

I eat at alot of good local places frequently, not 5 star places. For my money I want good food and atleast average service. Am I out of line for wanting this?

Also, I don't like eating at chains. So the place has to be really worth going to to get my business. I'm not the only one who said BJ's has awful service and just ok food

i've eaten there 3 times. first time it was miserable service. it probably took 30 minutes to get our drinks.

After that it seemed fine as you say..... hopefully it was one bad server as stated earlier in the thread.

When I go, which is rarely, I usually go during happy hour and sit at the bar....never had bad service there, although last time I went, the bartender was talking shite about how bad service was when it opened...

Half price pizzas, $1 off draft, $2 off apps...

no, you are certainly not the first person to say this as the place was plagued with bad service when it originally opened ... and certainly wasn't meant to offend as that wasn't the intention ... you just seem to have much higher standards than most of us .. i will agree that service can be spotty .. that is why we usually sit at the bar .. bartenders for the most part give far better service anyway ... but i have prolly had, off the top of my head, 8 different dishes there, pizza included, and only thought 1 just wasn't that good -- the hamburger of all things ...
