Large BGE. Ceramic plate setter broke last weekend after 12 yrs and need to replace. It has always performed very well, but a ceramic replacement is very expensive. Have seen cast iron options for much cheaper. Anyone have experience with a cast iron heat deflector, or should I just bite the bullet and get ceramic replacement?

Mine broke and I bolted it back together with some brackets but lately I’ve just been using a raised grid with a tin pan underneath whatever I’m cooking.

I have three bricks on the cooking grid with a pan and then another grid on top of the bricks.

Sometimes I use a round cast iron skillet I got from academy for $12.

It lasted twelve years. I don’t know about you but that seems like a good investment. Just buy another.
