Best place to get firewood for smoking in BR?

Need to re-up my firewood since I'm running low. Where do y'all offset smokers get your wood from? Usually by 1/4 chords at a time

Don't use firewood guys. They are terrible. Unless you can convince them to sell you the bark less restaurant wood. Then they are ok.

Not sure if you're willing to put in some time and labor, but I watch Facebook market place and craiglist for people looking to get rid of trees they had cut down I got a half cord of hickory for $25 bucks, about a half cord of maple and oak for free, just had to go cut it and load it up. The money I saved more than paid for the chainsaw, and splitting axe.

That's who I used last time. I'm thinking about using them again since they have free delivery, but I'll need to get an electric smoker to kiln dry the wood (which is what I should be doing anyway to be honest). I do have to do a lot more chopping with the wood from firewood guys

I get oak and pecan for free. Just have to split it.
For something we can't get locally (cherry, maple, apple), I buy bags of full logs at academy. But that has doubled in price in the last year, so I do that less now.

A majority of the oak is from my father-in-law's house. He has a lot of trees. I've also picked up logs off the side of the road a few times.
The pecan is from my friend's neighbor. A huge tree fell down. I have enough to last me 2-3 years probably.
That's the thing, it just takes one big haul to be set for a while. Unless you smoke multiple times a week.
Just search Facebook marketplace for free wood. I have seen it on there.

I've been watching there myself, but I'm not sure I trust those ads for accuracy. Some of the photos that are attached to the ads don't look anything like wood usable for smoking. A backyard firepit, sure, but....
