he's super nice, at least he was to me.
i was in the hotel/events business for a long time and for a while he was a popular "celebrity" for groups to hire to come speak/mingle/etc
very cool dude, and a tremendous businessman
and yes his shtick is not for everyone, certainly

I watched the show. I'd seen a few of the clips. I'd forgotten about that smoked tomato and onion dressing at The Joint. Haven't been there as I don't usually get bbq when I'm in New Orleans, but that dressing is so interesting. Might have to try and make something similar. I love smoking things and making something else from the smoked items. Smoked mushrooms are outstanding. The smoked mushroom app that used to be served at Commander's was one of my favorite dishes. I think Emeril may still serve it at his restaurant. Sweat them a bit in some cream and serve over pasta...delicious.
I've never had the muffalatta at Parasol's, but that show sure made me put it on my list. I love the idea of grilling the meats. Brings out so much flavor and since I prefer a warm muffalatta, it appeals to me. I'm going to grill the meats next time I make one at home.
Guy doesn't bother me so much and certainly not enough to stop watching DDD. I watch the reruns fairly often. It's a good show with interesting places and dishes. Like him or not, the guy is successful and I'd love going to all those types of places for my job. What fun.
