Beer Spinoff- Bottle, Draft, or Cans?

it tastes the exact same in a bottle or can. Draft is the only difference in taste
Nahh, I can definitely get a little metallic twang when drinking beer in a can. The beer might be the same, but the can touches your mouth so you taste metal a little.
its all in your head.
theres been studies done and there is ZERO difference in taste between the two.

What I'm saying is the beer could very well taste the exact same. I know for a fact I can taste the aluminum can itself when I put my mouth on it. I would rather not taste that.

I whole heartedly disagree that beer should be bitter, regardless of temperature
Bitter in beer terms isn't what you're thinking of. It just means flavor basically. It's measured in IBU's. Look it up. Shitty American beers like Bud Light have an IBU of around 6.5 or so.
Even the lightest of good beers has a 15 or so. A strong APA can have 40ish IBUs. (Blackstone APA in Nashville is a 36 and their lightest beer, Chaser, has 18 I believe). These are standard.

you're not tasting aluminum. the cans are lined, so its impossible to taste the aluminum. heady topper, a top 5 beer in the world, says on it to drink it out of the can.
my biggest issue with drinking a beer out of a can is that i cant smell the beer, and i love the nose on a good beer.

You know, that might be it. Smell and taste are so aligned with each other. Often I taste what I smell. The top part of the can never smells good and smelling the beer is a lot of it. Thats why I like draft. With a bottle you smell nothing. I have a can in front of me right now and just sniffed it. Definitely smells like metal and/or artificial something.

I don't like drinking straight of the can... I'm sure it's a combo of the smell factor plus the fact that 99% of beers I've drank straight from the can are crap.

I got a six pack of that hiding somewhere in my fridge. Glad I saw this. I'll have to try them tonight.
To the OP: Draft, then either/or. To any bottle snobs, cans are actually superior to bottles...

The canning process does allow for a greater chance of infection though, since it's a greater surface area exposed to the air for a longer period of time.
I think it's an either/or thing though as long as both the cans and bottles are stored properly.

Speaking of cans, I'll try not to get drunk and mesmorized by a nice pair of them and forget I was supposed to meet up this time.

Beer is best out of the tap
Posted on 9/14/12 at 11:59 pm to Carson123987
Pour a can or bottle into a mug and you cannot tell the difference, a correctly poured, clean lined, fresh draft is the best way to enjoy a beer unless they are looking for bottle conditioning.

As far as cans vs. bottles goes, cans are actually better for preserving the beer. Bottles are susceptible to the effects of air and light.
