The Cove has over 400 bottled beers. I would say that is the best beer bar.

bottles suck, most old and not fresh

As long as you're not minding bottles, check out Slinky's on Chimes St. One of my favorites

I love Slinky's. Its been a while since I've been there though. I didn't know anyone else actually goes there.

I go to Slinky's from time to time... they do have an underrated beer selection, but like The Cove, all bottles. A few tap lines would be nice, even if it's just some locals like NOLA and Tin Roof that are only on tap.

Slinkys is cool but small and can be very scene. If you want good beer the gold standard will always be the chimes.

more of a college bar?

It's sort of funny. The older I get, the more I'd rather be with college age kids than the 25 and over crowd. And not in a creepy way.

Probably because I have kids in that range and moving into that range.

Baton rouge can barely call it's "downtown" a real downtown.
