Christmas was always great, as was Tommy the bartender.

Tommy was a helluva funny guy. He was my favorite bookie in town. No matter how drunk he got, he NEVER screwed up a bet. I'd make a bet with him on a Saturday night and he'd be loaded. He'd jot it down on a napkin and stuff it in his pocket wish a bunch of other napkins and wadded up cash. Then when he came around to pay/collect on Tuesday, it would always be included.

The stories that guy would tell were classics! He always said he would never make a good alcoholic bc he would get too hungover and couldn't drink in the morning like all the old farts waiting at the door for him to open at 10 AM.

Rip timeout lounge

One of the few places in BR where no matter how shitty of a day you had, youd feel so much better once you left. (Just dont touch the sinks or youll be a little numb afterwards )

Since Baton Rouge Dives aren't as clear cut as the New Orleans Dive/Neighborhood bars. What makes a dive bar a dive bar in BR?

Someone said Brightside wasn't, but I'd argue that it was.

Cheap as shite beer.
Dumpy interior
Weird regulars
Jukebox
patio
Broken dart machine
Donkey Kong

Teddy's Juke Joint! Great place. If you order drinks in there they give you "a setup" as they call it. You get a little half pint of the liquor of your choice along with whatever mixer and some ice to take back to your table and make your own drinks. It's great. And the bar is nothing more than an old house. He has a tv hanging from the ceiling with a chain. The place is incredible.
