have some recipes that involve brining using kosher salt but are given in volume, not weight. i dont have kosher salt so im looking for the weight of the amt of salt that i need.

most of the literature that I have say it varies considerably...but a good rule of thumb is that kosher is roughly half the density of table salt.....

I have 2 identical boxes of salt, one is table salt, it weighs 4 lbs, the box of kosher salt weighs 3 lbs.. Do the math.

I have heard the formula that kosher is half, but my experience is that when I double the amount for kosher salt, it is too salty.
