I made it a month or so ago. You can get berbere seasoning already blended at Red Stick Spice if you’re in BR.

I used the same recipe you linked.

Injera has to be fresh so it isn’t sold in stores, so I just combined two counties and had naan

How did you like the recipe? I was planning on trying fresh market for the berbere

It was the most beginner recipe I found, which is why I used it (didn’t call for anything too weird). Looking at it again reminds me I did leave out the eggs.

It tastes very good. Better than expected.

Kroger carries their private selections version of it now as well. It is funny I was just about to ask if anyone has ever made niter kibbeh which is an Ethiopian spiced clarified butter. I am about to head to a nearby ethnic market to pick up the spices.

I've got about an hour left on the cooking. It smells very good.

Rouses and Fresh Market do NOT have berbere. I got it at whole foods and got the last bottle they had. This is in Mandeville.

Give us a report on the results. I’ve had Ethiopian only once, in a place in Georgetown with pics of big celebs who had been there. Can’t recall the name, but I enjoyed it.

I've got to say, I was pretty happy with the recipe. I was out of honey (to add to the wine), but I don't feel like it would have made much of a difference. I did add a little more chicken than it called for, and I also at least doubled the garlic quota. I used Naan for my bread because I wasn't about to try to make my own Ethiopian bread.

It was extremely flavorful. This particular recipe toned down the heat a little, which I think makes it much more approachable for most people.

Overall, I was very pleased and I'll definitely make it again. The recipe is actually incredibly easy, you just need a few hours to do it all.

I'm looking forward to leftovers tomorrow.

You'll pick up a lot of familiar Indian flavors in the barbere spice blend
