The owner of Salem's Diner told me this morning that he has hosted lots of Louisiana folks over the past two weeks, mostly from the two nearby hotels in Homewood.

First I was curious if any TD members were in that number, but then I expanded the question to anyone who evacuated here to Birmingham: any reports from having tried our food and/or restaurants?

Heck, anyone find something unexpected and interesting from any evac location?

Hope everyone is OK. And that is a real, bacon-devouring dog in the picture (of a picture).

Sadly, I haven't been back to B'ham since City Stages was cancelled. Had lots of fun with great food and music back in the day. One of the best meals I've ever had was at Highlands.

We were there for three days, very busy trying to keep up with events in BR, the only meal out was at a sports bar in the big strip mall at Valley Creek and 280.

We did. Actually ate at Salem’s Diner. We stayed in the Valley Hotel; very cool area.

Had sushi at Jinsei which was very good. Also enjoyed the chicken biscuits at Maple Street.
