I think they are great..equivalent to two eggs gives you 15 grams of protein and only at 75 calories.

Now I know regular eggs aren't bad because of the fat or cholesterol, but you can basically eat twice the a amount of beaters, with over twice the amount of protein , and half the calories.

To me,'now a days , I see more websites bitching about egg beaters citing some rat study from the 70's. But God forbid you bring up research or anything from that long ago about natural eggs.

Anyways, ramble over. Anyone else enjoy beaters as much as I ?

I still buy them from time to time. They used to be a staple in my fridge, but then I got a good source of local, fresh eggs.

Aren't they just egg whites with chemicals and food coloring added? Why not just use natural eggs but reduce the number of yolks? Scramble two egg whites mixed with one whole egg and you have something a lot cheaper and tastier and healthier than Egg Beaters. BTW, recent research suggests that egg yolks are not the cholesterol bomb that was once thought.

I use them to add volume to breakfast. Usually 3 whole eggs and 3 or 4 servings of the All Whites; not the yellow ones.

I can't bear the thought of tossing perfectly good egg yolks.

Well, you could make mayonnaise with them. There is nothing quite as satisfying as homemade mayo made the original way with a whisk, not a food processor. Or make real custard.

While a good idea for using them, it defeats the purpose of only eating the whites in the first place.

No thanks to the EggBeaters...why buy a processed, packaged product when the egg is a damn fine naturally packaged food? Shells can go into the compost pile. Stop focusing on total calories--you need the fat in the yolk to keep you feeling full & to slow down absorption. Fat is your friend, not your enemy.

Fresh yard eggs are damn delicious....a perfectly poached egg over just about anything makes for a great weeknight supper. Baked eggs are an ideal breakfast/brunch.

Back away from the processed eggs.

Rub butter over bottom and sides of ramekin or egg cup, crack egg into it, put into preheated oven for about ten minutes. That is your basic baked egg.

You can add many things to them, herbs, tomatos, cheese, mushrooms etc...

Jacque Pepin must do them 20 different ways. Good stuff with a nice piece of buttered toast.

Link? I eat a fair amount of eggs so I'm just curious what this new finding suggests.

I've never understood why anyone would want to eat "Egg Beaters".

I eat 2-3 eggs every morning. And the whole damn egg is good for you!

It's not really new, but the link between dietary cholesterol and heart issues is tenuous for the majority of the population.
Dietary Cholesterol

ETA - Egg yolks have received a bad wrap since some bullshite studies in the 70's, but they are packed with good stuff. Cholesterol in eggs supposedly acts different as well:

Don't you have to prick the yolk with a toothpick?
