Much like Bert, I suspect you are not a scientist.

Whatever man. Drink kombucha or don't. It may not do all the health benefits it claims, but the probiotic aspect, the taste, and other nutrients provided by the tea are worth it to me. Really like how the probiotic help my body absorb protein too.

So I was in line at Whole Foods today and asked the girl behind me if she actually felt any health affects from drinking the tea...
"Nah, I don't even drink it for health. It tastes great, only $12, and it has alcohol in it."

Kombucha is a prebiotic and is good for gut health. Many natural health practitioners believe sickness starts in the gut.

It's a probiotic. Not prebiotic.

yea came across that article when I was researching it.
seems like there's not much evidence supporting detox diets. from my link earlier - "Detoxification (detox) diets are popular, but there is little evidence that they eliminate toxins from your body."

I thought about making kombucha at one point, but couldn't get beyond how nasty the SCOBY looks. I've seen some crazy pellicels from fermentation with bacteria, but nothing like this.

you take the scoby out after fermentation and put it in a glass jar with 2-3 cups of the kombucha batch plus a plastic lid. then you mix the kombucha up with a wooden spoon. I don't see or taste any residue of the scoby after I mix it up.
the kombucha itself tastes amazing though
