Earlier this week Motorboat and I convinced some other OB posters to give this place a try for lunch. There was 8 of us and we told the waiter to bring out 5-6 dishes, his choice. We ended up with spicy chicken, cumin pork, fried squid, another type of squid with veggies, walnut shrimp, ants on a stick and then later I think pepper beef. Everything was great. The ant dish was very well liked as well as the beef and the shrimp. We would order everything again. These were all family size dishes and our bill was just a hair over $100. Much better than the Tang Chinese buffet

If this guy is looking for ambience and Oriental cuisine with well versed in English employees, there is a PF Changs in Baton Rouge.

Honestly, the best oriental restaurants (whether Vietnamese, Sichuan, Korean, etc) are all populated by people of their ethnicity who's English may not be the best. But they number their dishes for that reason, making it fool proof to order. The ambience is very similar at every one as well, somewhat homely and sparsely decorated. The experience is meant to be welcoming and warm, true to the culture and the food, and delivering an awesome product for a great price. Omi is actually one of my favorite restaurants in Baton Rouge and I frequent belaire when it permits in Houston pretty frequently.

We'll just have to agree to disagree. While I really liked Omi when it first opened (and back when it was down by LSU under a different name), but over time I've come to like 9 Dragon Noodle House more. The spicy dry fried beef at 9DNH is better than any dish I've tried at Omi; it's better than the Chong Quing chicken in my opinion. I know I'm in the minority, but I really don't care for the cumin beef, ants climbing trees, and eggplant at Omi. At 9DNH the hot and sour soup is superior, the pig liver is great, the Amazing chicken and Singapore Chicken and Mongolian beef are all excellent. The only place that rivals it is Little Chinatown in Kenner.
