I understand your point but remember there was a time that Magic Hat, Sierra Nevada, Stone, Lagunitas and Rogue were small and popular micros. Now they are officially regional or larger breweries and many folks don't consider them craft beer any more. Once you get too large you no longer compete in the same divisions and risk losing your micro label. It's a fine line that some breweries would rather not cross and collabs give them a bit of a loophole.
