Dakota, never been to JDS but Dakota is one of my personal favorite places in the area, service has always been impeccable along with the food.

The F&D Board has been goofy with the votes the past two days..market store and feed store taking down and/or nearly taking down 3* and 4* haute cuisine restraunts.
I love them all, and arguments can be made for all in their overall impact and contributions to La and Nola dining, and landmark status, but it's apples vs oranges by genre/category.
I love Anthony's and Pocorella's, but they aren't gonna take down Ruffino's in my book, no matter if they make two of BR's best Muffs. Apple v Orange.

again, this tourney was designed to incorporate ALL aspects of a restaurant. It's not just about food in a blind taste test type of setting. Things like value, tradition, environment, nostalgia, service, and excellence at what you do all matter.
comparing only apples to apples would get pretty boring, imo.

I agree, that's why I address it, and agree that a place like CG does a Muff to a grade that most any other restaurant can't achieve with their arguably best dish. Hell, my fridge has a jar of CG Olive Mix always, I even add to Mrs Saia's and Pokey's Muffs with it once home with Muff takeout. But, whom has higher grade cuisine, more quality dishes, diverse menus, better digs,etc..is gonna go far with me.
And totally agree, all great cities and great foodie towns, must have nostalgic dives, markets, hole-in-walls,etc..that provide value, tradition, environment,etc..to be really great and diverse.
It's not a knock, but if a hamburger hut is unfairly placed versus an elegant establishment
by a large handicap, it's gonna go down more times than not. Even if they are credited with inventing or perfecting something, and are more of an city landmark.
