I haven't been able to get any useful estimates of where the flood waters were in Terrebonne Parish during the last opening of the Morganza in 1973. I would assume that this time will be worse since the river is much higher and so much development has taken place that encroaches and disrupts natural drainage. Anyone have any flood data from then?

I don't believe the river is higher... Saw some pics of levee in algiers and it is a few feet lower than what I remember as a kid.

but.. the flooding could be worse this time due to hydrographic changes in the atch basin since 73.. sediment and more trees....

The water level today at Red River Landing is higher than it was in 1973.

The current level as of 5:00 PM CDT was 60.24 feet.

On 05/13/1973, the crest at Red River Landing was 58.22 ft.

This is setting records from Natchez south. I was fricked by local levee boards and the COE, I hope it doesn't happen again.
