“Some of the gravel, I mean rip-wrap had been washed away in the past and they were just looking for areas that need reinforcement, so they were replacing it so there wouldn't be any erosion from wave wash from ships going by,” said Stevan Spencer of the SELA Flood Protection Authority-East. Despite the work, some levees are already seeing seepage, including behind the French Market in the French Quarter. “It's never been a problem,” Spencer said. “It's always clear, no sediment and that kind of thing, so we monitor that area in Orleans.”

I think seepage is pretty normal when the water is that high. As long as it is clear, it is seeping through sands and is not eroding underneath.

I don't think it is a sign of a serious problem, but it is something we will probably see all along the river.

based on what I see, I don't see how at least some areas wouldn't receive flooding.

Stacy, I can't tell if there is a levee keeping the water from the parking lot in that pic. Please tell me there is one that the trees are hiding or something.

Oh okay. I know it's still at a level to be concerned with but not as bad as it looked for the time being.

Water was almost all the way to the top from what I can tell. We are the highest point in the city if that gives you any clue

the water has really gone up in the last day as when I was at work yesterday at Children's, it wasn't that high.

That was yesterday?! Hope the flood wall holds as I don't feel like dealing with a code grey.
