Barge passing very close to shore.
Riverfront, now under water.
Piles and piles of dirt as workers shore up buildings on the river side of the levee.
Levee at St. Joseph, LA.
Vidalia side of the river outside of the Comfort Suites. We were kicked out of that hotel and had to move across the river to the Grand Soleil in Natchez, MS.
Nighttime shot of the Mississippi River Bridges from the Natchez side.
New dirt piled on top the levee for additional protection... about 10 miles south of Vidalia, LA.
Riverfront walkway now under water.

Tigerhead what side of the river was this taken on and what is that building is in the pic. Also can you get a pic of the electronic river gauge. I don't remember what side of the river it is on.

That pic is of the Vidalia side...
Don't know where the gauge is.

That's the Vidalia side, and I think that's a medical building/doctor office.

That pic is south of the bridge on Vidalia's side. The gauge is north of bridge on Vidalia's side, I think.
I've seen the water this high before, before they built all this stuff. Why they thought it would never get this high again...

Where is the comfort inn in relation to this building?

That is the Vidalia Side, and I ate many a lunch at those picnic tables in the flood waters. That buliding is Riverpark Medical Center which is home to many doctors offices and is an outpatient clinic to alot of ppl, is a relatively new buliding and cost millions of dollars to bulid and has millions of dollars of equipment inside it.
Here is a link to it:

They weren't allowing anyone on the levee so I walked up the bridge to get those pictures of the flooded area. I want to walk up other side to get pictures of the Comfort Suites side, but there's very little room for pedestrians, although I did see someone walking across the bridge on that side. I may give it a try tomorrow.

WOW ... I've been to that hotel for a work conference twice ... it was nice and an okay area. This is amazing.

Here is another pic that shows everything better:
The road is where you drive over the main levee into the Riverwalk area. The buliding by the Road is the Riverpark. Then the outdoor theather then the Hotel, the buliding you barely see on the other side is the Vidalia Convention/Conference center.
