the past few days crews have been working to fix parts of the fuse plug levee. Over the years, cars driving over the levee has made several low spots. Some of them more than a foot lower. And there is a part of the levee that has a huge cavity that is being fixed. My uncle lives right across from the cavity. This area of leveeis made to fail when it is topped by water but I hope they can make the repairs in time

Is the fuse plug around 451 to the locks, or is it along Hwy 1 from Simmesport to the West Atchafalaya Levee?

the part of the fuse plug levee that will dynamited if need be is from the ring levee in simmesport to the levee in hamburg that is crossed by highway 1. The part of levee that has the cavity is near the old iron brigde. That part of levee is made shorter to be over topped to flood the pomme de terrre area before the hamburg levee would need to be blown

Who told you that? The Mississippi is about 5 ft from being over Hwy 1 right when you head out of Morganza going to Simmesport. Right before the spillway guide levees.

Thanks, I was able to drive down the cutoff Rd from Simmesport to Big Bend Rd yesterday. I guess that gonna be impossible for a while.

Any idea of what the are expecting in Big Bend?

Where is that? I'm a little familiar, but not enough to know that. Will Spring Bayou get out of the banks from this? Based upon my 2 trips this year, that place needs a flushing.

They have a map on the corps vicksburg site showing the backwater flooding in Avoylles. I can't link it right now.

Bakersman, I find it entertaining to see you reply to me referencing your dad.

when you drive down the hill heading to spring bayou turn left at the fork in the road. A little bar is on the left here. And drive all the way down. The road going to it is gated now. The damn stops spring bayou from draining into the red river. But does nothing for stopping the reverse from happening

This would be a bad situation.
