Houma elevation map

I have been trying to find out the elevation of my property for a couple of days now and this is what the Houma newspaper puts out. I thought maybe you had to click on the picture to get the map but nope.

A buddy of mine in safety sent me a nice interactive map that will tell you the elevation of anywhere in Louisiana.

Go here: LINK /
and zoom into your town, street, etc and just left click once. Look to the left and you'll see your elevation.

Like much of the stuff being sent out, that Ag Site info is not exact.

I have elevation certificates from licensed surveyors on a number of properties in Houma and every one of them is off by about 2'.

Just use the info as a generalization and not the Gospel truth.

I can believe that. I was told my elevation was closer to 9' I don't have a certificate to back that up though.

Another site of interest would be LA Mapping Project

You can go Parish by Parish and compare your current FIRM maps, the FEMA Advisory Base Flood Elevations (ABFE) after Rita, and the proposed updated DFIRM maps.

I remember when the ABFE's came out and everyone along 311 was upset. But it looks like those may prove to be closer that the FIRMs.

Dude - You don't live that far from me. I'm north of Savanne on 311.

Apparently, after the flood waters come, B2 stealth bombers come afterwords

Honestly I would rather start from scratch than have a to gut a house that flooded and be stuck with something I have no hope of selling due to its flood history.
