i tried to scroll down and look for similar topic:
question what happens to fish and other living things that are freshwater and they are dumped into either the lake or fed into the gulf via atchafayala river? the more i think about it this happens naturally via the miss river anyway - just never thought of it before. do they slowly adjust to the change in the water or is the current not that quite strong enough to force them into the gulf? excuse my ignorance

My dad works for the NRCS(formely USDA) for 30 years and I asked him this question the other day. He said before levees were constructed this was the natural flows of the river. Mother nature intended for this to occur. He said it is good for the estuaries and nothing will happen or change, in fact it may help the fishing.

it isnt a good thing for the oysters, but the oyster beds were originally further out.

That is what keeps the diversion projects from running at full power. If i remember, the state got sued by oyster farmers and that is why they havent been run at full power.

I could be wrong.

Randy Pausina from LDWF on 870 said it will hurt the oysters for years. (1-3). Also expect huge algae blooms from freshwater. When it dies from the spill way closures it will consume the oxygen which could cause fishkills.

Hes a friend of mine but I missed the interview. However, another mutual friend just called me and told me about todays interview.
