My wife loves editing photos. She has one of the adobe programs, not sure which one. Her birthday is coming up and I'm thiking about getting her a new program. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Photoshop is pretty much the standard. Although I think the last one I checked out the CS4 one was like $500+ and I think CS5 is $600+. But then again these are the full "legit" versions. Photoshop CS is for everything, not just editing pictures.

But if she is just editing photos then she should be fine with Photoshop Elements, which is probably the Adobe software she has. Corel has some good software as well for photo editing as well. And those run in the $50-$100 range.

Yeah if your wife doesn't have photoshop, that'd be a cool one to get. That's what I use and I had no prior graphic design experience or anything. It's pretty easy to get a handle on.

I didn't exactly acquire it the legal way though... which would cost you a bunch of money. There are ways to get it for free, but like I said, they are frowned upon.

Photoshop CS5, Illustrator CS5 and Fireworks CS5. Not illegal copies either.

I do everything with freeware- Paint.net and Inkscape. Downloading free programs probably doesn't count as a great birthday gift though...

GIMP is also free too but it isn't initially user friendly though some folks here use it with proficieny. I downloaded it as it is more powerful than Paint.net but immediately went back.
