Serious "Fark"

I am helping put together a poster for an upcoming science nerd convention, and I want to stick the colored LSU logo on it. My problem is that the official digital form of the logo handed out on disc has it bracketed with a white background rather than a transparent one, which clashes horribly on the poster.



Tried using the intelligent scissors in gimp to get it done easily but it seemed to fight me at every turn.

Can perhaps the expert farkers lend me a hand and stick the above pic on a transparent background?
