Question about editing an image

I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask this but I didn't know where else to go. I've got a hand drawn image in pencil that I want to make into a logo that I could eventually print onto hats and whatever else. Is it possible to edit that hand drawn image on my computer and add color and whatever else to it? If so, what program would allow me to do that? Thanks

quote:Yes, assuming you have a way to scan it.

quote:Photoshop. It's not cheap, though. Gimp could be used, too, but it's not as functional.

Why don't you scan it, post it, and let someone on here help you. What you're asking for is a pretty simple filter function in PS, assuming the scan is quality.

I'm pretty sure my dad has photoshop at his house that I could use. If not I'll be sure to post it on here, thanks!

In my opinion, Inkscape would be a better tool in which to do this (over GIMP and Photoshop). It's a free vector graphics editor. I've done that very thing and it works out pretty good....but you do need to have an idea of how Inkscape works also.

If you are going to want to use the image on t-shirts (or other large projects) you will likely want to create a vector image. Vector images are scalable, which means you can make them as large as you want without any loss in quality. For vector images you will want to use either Adobe Illustrator or Inkscape. Illustrator has a tool that will automatically create a vector from the image you scan in. It should work well with a pencil drawing.
Adobe also has an ios app called adobe shape. You can use the camera on your iphone or ipad to capture the drawing and the app creates a vector for you, which can ten be opened in a vector editor. It should work well with a simple pencil drawing.
What you're asking for is fairly simple, but if you've never used Illustrator, Inkscape or even Photoshop, the learning curve will will be fairly steep. You'd probably be better off posting the drawing and letting someone here do it for you.
