To color something like that, use the "Bucket Tool".
Select a color, texture, etc. (purple ink in this example)
Select your "Bucket Tool" in paint accessories
Click to apply the selected color to the target area.
ETA: For the Tiger colorization, I took a piece of Mike's fur as a "texture" and used the bucket tool to fill target areas. Gives a bit of dimensional enhancement.
