OK, here is my first attempt at posting one of my Fark's on TD. I am usually roundly booed and sometimes suspended for posting my Farks of Richt on my Home Boards.
This Fark is Titled "Dead Man Walking" and refers to Mark Richt job security if he loses to the Vols Derek Dooley (Vince Dooleys son) in Athens this Fall.

Thanks man. I image editing skills are pretty weak, as you can see, but the ideas are still pretty fun.
I use Fireworks for the image editing. What do most people use? Is there a tips and tricks type thread?

The best artists use photoshop. But there is freeware that is pretty powerful. I use Paint.net which is pretty intuitive. Others like Gimp but I wasn't used to its interface.
Just practise is how you get better. There are tutorials online if you have time to kill. Sometimes you can get some pretty cool ideas. If you ever see something I post that you like, let me know and I can probably walk you through the steps.

Also curious about how the animated gif's are created. In some cases it looks as if the artist starts with a video clip and has a way of pasting faces on and then converting to a gif.

is there a version of Paint.net for Macs? or something similar?

If you have a mac you have to go with GIMP for freeware. Paint.net is only for pc.

I too use paint.net. You can check out some of my stuff and ask me some questions too if you like. IMO there is no better freeware than paint.net. It is very user friendly so anyone can start using it on day one.
Youtube has some good basic tutorials and paint.net has a huge online forum with thousands of plugins for special effects.

I am a GIMP guy. Free at Gimp.org. Learned most from youtube gimp tutorials. There are also plenty of gimp sites as well as gimp.org for how to use. Personally I have barley scratched the surface of gimp knowledge, but feel I get some pretty good stuff up when motivated.....I may get the urge to jump in on some of this Richt bashing!!!

Well that's how I do it. Convert a video into individual frames, then edit each frame using photo edit software, and convert it into a gif. I don't know if the fark gods have an easier/faster way to do it, but it is time consuming and intricate as hell, and it will certainly test your patience.

Before I found out you could covert videos into frame by frame pictures I use to pause a video and print screen a few times a second.
