Inspired by "If LSU had a different miscot (mascot)"...

From a thread on the Rant. I thought that the Loup Garou had a snappy ring to it - decided to see what it would look like as a helmet decal logo...

Right!?
I've never received a "death suggestion" on the Fark Board before... I'd imagine it must take a supremely magnanimous, successful and well-liked kind of person to post such unprovoked anonymous vehemence.
I'm thankful that the majority of Fark Board regulars have been blessed with a measure of talent or tact (usually both)- all but eliminating the assumption that they are shallow and socially stunted.
Anyway... If anybody, upon looking at the image above, has come to believe I'd like to change LSU's Tiger - You're right... kinda.
While I'd never dream of altering the helmet logo, I can't stand the new floating head/Toonces or whatever it's called. I know that in the end it was some committee that chose the representation, not the artist/agency. I found myself wondering just how hard it would be to create an original logo (based on a pre-determined model/mascot). I don't have the eye for efficient usage of negative space, nor the patience required for mastery of the pen tool. I decided to go with what I knew - manipulating an existing image. What did the loup garou above look like before being massively filtered into its present incarnation?

One could argue that a French werewolf of legend could be traditionally considered somewhat more indigenous to a southern Louisiana school in a French named city more than a bengal tiger... which is indigenous to India...
But that's a matter of opinion. (I did have to look up the pronunciation "luga' ru" which sounds scarier than its spelled.)

I'm surprise nobody has thought to use this menacing local creation... not even a high school. I'm thinking that a live mascot would not be viable...
Not sure if this is widely known - The loup garou has managed to claw its way into Louisiana iconography thanks to Rodrigue's "Blue Dog" paintings...
...featuring the likeness of the family dog, posthumously possessed by the spirit of a loup garu.
Now if the Blue Dog, in turn, became overcome by LSU spirit, you'd have this:
FWIW - If you like a the combination of history, legend, forensic medicine and foreign travel...and reading (dealbreaker for some) - you should read Patricia Cornwell's "Black Notice" sometime.

For some odd reason I like it, great work
EDIT: you could have some fun if you posted this on rant as "LSU decides new Mascot"
