So I decided to take a stab at making a sig picture, and here's what came out.

Any suggestions for improvements?
TIA

Sigs should be 400x150 and under 30k in size.
Looks good though. You might consider a black line around the outside as a border. When I was learning to make sigs I looked at that entire thread on the Help board for techniques.
Stout has some good ones originally. I like Godfather's as well.

Thanks for the advice. I added in a border and rounded the corners. I think it made it look a little better.

Looks great! Nice haul BTW. I just did my first one as well yesterday, with GIMP!
Not too shabby, IMO!

Nortizzle made some good ones but he doesn't work for free anymore.

He did indeed. I wouldn't work for free either if I was Nortizzle.

Thanks. I used a program called paint.net that was free. I had photoshop, but lost the cd a while back.

I exclusively use freeware. Paint.net and Inkscape for vectors. Lack of software shouldn't be something that holds a prospective graphic artist back.

Beautiful birds. Well done.

I've been wondering what you used for vectors. Glad to know there is a free software out there that can do vectors.

Might be a stupid question, but what are vectors used for?
I'm just starting to get into farking.

i was inspired to make a sig after seeing this thread, i made one using Gimp, but when i go to add it to my profile it says that my image needs to already be on the internet, how do i do that?

I see you experimented with the filters like me. It appears to have paid off for you.
