Gesicki and Smith are my only 2, they have the same bye week so my reasoning was just roll with one TE until I need to add another.

Yeah you could do Ruggs for Marshall. I don't think it's a homer pick at all. Marshall was a beast in preseason and there's clearly a connection with Darnold. Throw in that it's the same OC as in college and there's every reason to believe that he could have a good season. I took him in the 2nd to last round in my draft.
