I’m sure folks out there have had much worse, but this one was botched tonight. 9th year of a 2qb, 1 keeper, auction league. I’m in 3 leagues every year. It’s the only auction draft I have, which makes this draft my favorite part of fantasy each year.

This year we had a guy drop out and needed another. A buddy recommended a friend of his. None of the other 8 had met him. Guy joins the group chat, is active and pays his dues in advance. Fast forward to tonight, draft supposed to start at 7 30. The guy is radio silent. Nothing. Because he didn’t accept the invite an hour before the draft we can’t use keepers. That was a pain in the arse. We do set up a sham email address for him so we can at least draft and let him auto draft.. Enter the draft room 15 mins before the draft and realize that the commissioner failed to set the draft as auction and now it’s a snake. We go through three picks before it blows up. Now we have a new league and draft at 10.

Yeah yeah, dear diary.

My ‘worst’ draft experience was earlier this year.. it just involved me doing too much at once while trying to draft.. I was updating the picks on clickydraft (which was fantastic by the way), making my picks & keeping up with the other picks, and coordinating picks for my brother in law via phone/text all at once.. wasn’t too bad but I felt incredibly rushed every time it was my turn to draft.

Had one were 10/12 people were able to get together. 1 of the 2 not there decides to say he was going to be late 5 minutes before the draft, and he needed an hour. Not that big of a deal as we were all drinking and hanging out, well the kicker was he hadn’t paid his entrance fee yet. Commissioner has a shite fit and starts it on auto draft. Guy ends up freaking out and “quits.” We let him sleep it off and text him the next day, and he’s fine with his autodraft team and sends in his entrance fee. Commissioner gets all petty and says he’s out now. Eventually he sleeps it off and it’s all good, but he resigns (?) as commissioner.

Tl;dr: fantasy football can make some people act like middle school girls and now I’m suddenly commissioner of a league.

In my auction draft E Elliot, out of nowhere, goes for $4. I wasn't planning on drafting him so I wasn't paying attention. All of a sudden everybody comes on the chat claiming they were not able to draft him. Apparently there was some kind of glitch. After tons of complaining back and forth we are redrafting tonight.
