I didn't se it, but I've noticed that if a players strips a guy once he picks up his dribble and starts to take a shot, the defender it credited with a block. Even if the ball is still at waist level.

That shouldn't matter. A shot can be blocked inbounds or out of bounds. Its still considered a block.
Again, I didn't see it.

pause it on the action of the steal, then do the little screen capture thing. press the home button then the button on the top or whatever.

Unless you meant that he wasn't credited a steal bc the ball went out of bounds and it wasn't a shot.

If it went out of bounds, it could only be a block if they're any stats involved. It could not be a steal if it went out of bounds.

He was going into his shot, ball was stripped and stayed in bounds and nene picked it up.
Yes, G, he had started his ascension into a shot.

Looks like a steal. Gordon is behind him
But again, a player still can be blocked from behind. It def looks like a steal tho.

Yeh I got a screen shot. Tom thinks steal. But Kyrie is at the very start of his shot. When I keep high school stats, I mark steal every time on that play

Sounds like Tom forwarded it to you

I think any type of movement into attempting a shot will constitute a block

I guess the rockets stat keeper is trying to pad Houston's block number?
Posted on 3/13/17 at 3:27 pm to Boomshockalocka
yea boomy any type of deflection in the act of shooting is gonna be a block
Posted on 3/13/17 at 3:29 pm to MrWiseGuy
Upon further review, that a block. 100%

I guess in NBA with continuation, but to me, that's a steal
Posted on 3/13/17 at 3:32 pm to MrWiseGuy
Yea I'd call that a steal. He could have been gathering for a pass.

If that's the rule, it's definitely a block. But to me, there was no shooting motion, just collecting himself before going into shooting motion.
The broadcaster says, "Irving stripped by Gordon."

Did he flail his hands in the air after being stripped? Like a shooting type flail?
