That wasnt intentional and it would not have affected any of the categories. I remember not even being aware of my place in the standings

Believable.
Don't miss a day setting line-up all year and only hit 30 games the last week of the season to fall into 2nd to last place.

Not even close to the same issue. Adding more teams to the lottery just encourages fringe playoff teams to mail it in at the end of the year. That's why 3 teams makes sense.
