Did you not check sending money to family or friends? It charged my account a fee for the payment. It's 48.25, so it charged my account 1.75 as if it were a purchase for goods. I don't mind that it did it once but, for everyone else, please DO CHECKcheck sending money to family or friends and NOT a purchase for goods.

If you did check that, how did you pay for it? Let's not replicate this mistake with the remaining payments please. Read your details of the payment before you hit send. They will tell you if it is charging you a fee.

If it is charging a fee, back up a step and change to CC and check the send money to family or friend. If you are still getting the fee please make the payment for 52 (I think it's .035% the fee will work out to) so that when the fee is charged you'll still have deposited 50 dollars. Feel free to work out the math to determine the exact amount necessary to send exactly 50.00 and pay the fee. Its roughly 2 bucks. But honestly you really should not be charged a fee.

Well, it wasn't a fee for you so maybe it didn't say anything to you about it. If that is the case, I would bet that you did not check sending money to family or friends and so it thought it was a mercantile transfer and charged "the business" (aka me) the fee.

No don't worry about the fee. I just don't want anyone else to make the mistake is all. Everyone make sure you check sending money to family or friends. I don't think it charges a fee for that.

Veto.

I'll be in Houston at the LSU game. Gonna be tough to properly draft.

no problem.

As far as draft day goes, my goal is always the same. I like it after the final preseason game but obviously before the first regular season game. I also want for everyone to be able to participate in the draft. The less important goals are that it be on a weekend and preferably in the evening after about 5:00 pm.

The keepers vote we can go ahead and do. There are two questions to answer. The first is, do we even want to do this.

Here is the main problem with having a keeper league in this type of situation. None of us know one another IRL. That fact can lead to inconsistent league members from season to season. We've been very fortunate to keep the members we have over the last 5 years. But even with that consistency, we 've always had to add at least one and most years we've had to add more than one.

Having keepers coupled to member inconsistency can lead to a situation where it is hard to find new members and thus leaving spots unfilled. For instance if one of our members this year has a terrible team due to whatever (draft/injury/etc) and that person does not come back the next year, any potential new member will be stuck with having to select a keeper that they would not otherwise choose. It could prevent a person from playing and we may not be able to get anyone to fill the spot. Considering the money level we are getting into the ability to easily get a new member is important. I really want this to get to be a 100.00 buy-in league where we have 1200 dollars in prize money to distribute to the top three players (winner gets 800, second place will get 250, and third gets 150, or some similar distribution pattern).

I'm not sure how everyone else feels about that and I really don't want to lose any of the guys that have been here through the last 5 years, but some might not want to be in a bigger money league. I like to do a top three money winner situation to keep the chances of at least winning some money higher than a one man takes it all league. Hopefully this will offset any apprehension about going to 100. He'll I would love to do weekly winners too in addition to the final 3 grand prize. Like every week we all put in 10 dollars and highest scorer wins some, then also give 2nd and third place weekly money where you would receive the weekly payouts on Tuesday via your PayPal account. That would be a blast and definitely keep everyone on their toes because of what's at stake each week. I'm digressing a bit, but I just wanted to throw all that out there to let everyone think about it.

Back to the keepers situation. If you guys all want to do keepers, we'll need to figure out if it's one or two and also how that affects the next year's draft. Two keepers leads to an even worse chance to get new members should that need arise and the situation I describe above comes to fruition. Just keep that in mind when voting.

As for the draft the following year, I've never done a keeper league so I'm not sure how that changes the draft. Obviously you would have a round where you do not pick from the player pool. Does everyone just use their keeper as a first round pick? Then afterward you're basically doing a snake draft. Or do you get rewarded for getting a high value guy by drafting him late or even better off the waiver wire? Then you would basically draft how you normally would except that on the round your keeper was selected the previous year, you get to get him at that spot again.

I think I've covered all the issues and if anyone wants to chime in feel free. The vote is for:

1. Do we want keepers at all? (Yes/No)
2. How many keepers (1/2/NA)?
3. Are they drafted as if they are your first (and second, if necessary) round picks or do you get to pick them where they went the previous year? (First/previous/NA)?

I have bolded my votes. You guys do the same and we'll see where to go from there. Feel free to bring up any other issues I have discussed or maybe didn't bring up that is important to consider.

Honestly, I like it the way it is. I could go for more $$ with more payouts eventually I reckon.

I prefer Saturday or Sunday draft. I can do anytime on Saturday, but on Sunday, I'm only available after 9pm EST.

I would prefer not to go over $50 or 60 for a year or two. I also am not in favor of weekly, extra bets.

Also, I can make most any night happen - though I'd prefer a Sunday.
