Standard scoring.
Who would you rather have?

I'm assuming that Foster is pretty borderline just for this week. He'll be back in time for the playoffs. When Foster is playing, he is way better than Ellington, especially in standard.

So you want to ride an already injured and injury prone RB going forward into the playoffs instead of Ellington, who has been one of the most consistent RBs thus far?

I would want the upside. I had Ellington most of the year, just traded him away. He's a good asset, but he isn't going to win very many games for you. In general he'll get you that reliable 10-12 points a week. That said, I don't remember what his schedule for playoffs looks like of the top of my head. With a very favorable schedule he might get into potential monster game territory.

In standard scoring, Foster has 1,051 yards, 10 TD's, and two fumbles in eight games. He has six games of over 100+ rushing yards and three games of 150+ total yards. Foster has 161.1 points this season. He averages a hair over 20 ppg if you count games he plays and he will average a touch over 16 ppg still even if Foster sits this Sunday.
Ellington has 914 yards, 5 TD's, and two fumbles in nine games. He has four games of 100+ total yards and one game of 150+ total yards. Ellington has 117.4 points this season. He averages just over 13 ppg this season.
I get that questions like this are only asking about going forward, but Foster has been significantly better than Ellington this year in standard and it is obvious. You talk about Ellington's consistency, but Foster has done the same thing with a much higher point output. I will take the health risk for sure.

Yeah, going forward is all that matters.
So this week you are already getting whatever Ellington gives you compared to Foster's 0.
HOU has nothing to play for at this point. It could end up being another shut down season for Foster at some point. But hey, you want to risk that +3 PPG output instead of a guy who is healthy going in to the playoffs, by all means

Let's not forget that Ellington no longer has Palmer in there who was great at hitting him on those screens as well. It is no coincidence that Ellington scored more with Palmer in there.

Ellington's highest scoring game of the year came with stanton
The Texans have all but thrown in the towel going with Mallett

They are a team on the cusp of the playoff hunt, yet they are going to switch QBs 10 weeks into the season to a guy who has never made an NFL start. That's the outrageous thing
Yeah Fitz sucks but if they actually cared about somehow sneaking into the playoffs, they would not be experimenting with QBs this late in the season

Stanton played in weeks 2, 3, 5. Ellington's scored 11.1, 10.5, and 30.4. You are conveniently leaving out the fact that Logan Thomas was the qb who threw Ellington the 89 yard td pass (a 15.9 point play).
Logan Thomas was the QB when Ellington got over half his points in best game.

Ellington with Palmer:
11, 15.3, 22, 15.5, 23.4, 15.2 (Palmer tore ACL in this one). Ellington scored almost all his points with Palmer.
I still think Ellington is a true RB1 regardless of the QB, but he has done the best with Palmer. Ellington is yet to have a 15 point game with Stanton in three games.

I forgot Thomas was in for that play
Anyway, it's the health, not the points. Obviiusky Foster is better when healthy. He's had 4 different injuries this year? Is that right?

So what if you have both??

Foster by a long shot. You can speculate on whether or not he gets injured but the numbers are plain...Foster is a top tier back this season even with the missed time.

He's missed one game this year and has been playing at an elite level with a pulled hamstring.
Ride his arse til he breaks

Ellington has had two issues that are yet to cost him a game. Foster has had four that looks like it may cost him a second game.
It also depends if you need an RB1 this week badly. 5-5 teams have a different answer than a 7-3 squad.

Wasn't Ellington hampered quite a bit by his foot injury those first few weeks before the Cardinals week 4 bye?
wk 1: 11 pts with Palmer
wk 2: 11.1 pts with Stanton
wk 3: 10.5 pts with Stanton
Week 5 was at Denver with the Broncos coming off their bye, too. Tough to criticize him for not having a 15 point fantasy day under Stanton there.
I'm not expecting a whole lot from him over the next several weeks though because of his schedule - Det, at Sea, at ATL (nice match-up), KC, at StL
