Switching over my league to a keeper league. Drafting this year with plans to keep for the first time next year. Standard draft.

What are some standard keeper rules? Don't need anything out of the box. Planning to keep either 1 or 2.

If a player was drafted in round 1 the previous year, they will cost a 1st rounder to keep this year

If a player was drafted in the 3rd round the previous year, they will cost a 3rd rounder to keep

If they weren’t drafted and were picked up, they cost a 5th rounder this year

We do this and only allow 1 keeper

We don't allow any keepers who were drafted in the first 2 rounds.

Next year, keeper must be drafted one round earlier. If keeper is kept 2 years in a row, the 2nd year they must be taken in the 2nd round. No player can be kept 3 years in a row.

Any keeper drafted 10th round or later must be taken in the 9th round.

Keeper must be on your roster all year long, never dropped or traded.

1 keeper in our league with a 2 round penalty. Draft guy in 10th, can keep in 8th next year all the way up to 3rd round. At that point 3rd would now be first, so no keepers in 1st or 2nd round

This isn’t a dynasty unless it’s 13 man rosters

Jesus, does anyone actually use all 13? I don't think I have more than 5 or 6 guys on any given year's team that are actually worth keeping. Are there any penalties for keeping? And how do ya'll draft if it's not a dynasty, but there's already that many players off the board? Just a 3 round rookie +defense/kicker draft??

Just don't let people keep FA pickups in the 16th, cause that's dumb

Keep one player. Whatever round that player was picked up last year, it is now the pick a round earlier. No first Rd picks or FA can be kept. If a player was drafted in the 10th Rd last year he is this years 9th pick. That's how we always did it. At the end of the year that player had to have been on your roster or he is now back in the pool and can't be kept.

Does anybody put extra stipulations on 1st round talents that were drafted super late the year before? Every year there's a David Johnson, or Kareem Hunt, or Kamara who are late round rookies that end up being 1st rounders the next year. I know some of you have said you just make them give up a round earlier pick, or if it's a double digit pick, then move it up to a 9th or 10th cost, but still they're basically getting a 1st rounder on their team for free.

And I'm all for rewarding someone for drafting that type of guy. I just think it's too big of an advantage going into the new season

I don't know of any stipulations like that. You draft a first rounder in the 14th Rd, that's a bargain. It seems unfair but remember every team passed over that player 13 times. I remember when I drafted LaDainian Tomlinson in the last few rounds of the draft and then started a keeper league the following but we had to throw everyone back in the pool. I was upset.

We had a guy draft Brees in 2006 in the 10th Rd. The guy was horrible at ff but he had Brees for 10 years.

Neauxla,

We used to have 20 man rosters but now we have 23. I prefer 20. It's definitely interesting. You really have to focus on building your team. The draft is really fun because your choices, of course, are critical. I really like keeping 13. There are always a couple of guys you hate throwing back. We've had this league for about a decade. Only one or two guys have won it more than once, and we've had six different winners. 12 teams.

We do 5 and it’s completely open. Just starts the draft in round 6. We built up to have by doing 2,3,4 then 5 and have stayed there.

Allows people to trade and rebuild or draft all Young and rebuild. A few teams have some crazy keepers but they got them by being down and building.
