So Adam Duvall just had one play at 3B as a fifth infielder ... interested to see the ruling on that.
Apparently the ruling is he's still playing left field while playing third base. Learn something new every day.

Rougned Odor has 27 homers in his last 149 games dating to June 15, 2015, when he returned from Triple A Round Rock after a dreadful start.

Yeah, don't get credit when shifting.
Otherwise Correa would likely be 2B eligible and Altuve would likely be OF eligible.

Is that a shift tho?
He came in from left field, got a new glove and went and stood next to third base ... In two separate innings.
Adam Duvall did just shift another ball into the seats, tho. Number 19

I guess it is by their definition?
ETA: He was probably written in the starting lineup as 3B, so no lineup change, no official credit.

Yeh I'm not making a big deal about it.
I honestly didn't know the rule. It would be a 7-3 putout if a groundout was hit his way.
He's just two games away from gaining 3B eligibility, and I'm itching for him to get there.
That's what confused me. The other two OFs got designated in playing the other two OF positions on the same play. So Bruce got CF next to his name in the box score because he played right-centerfield on those plays.

That's weird then. I guess the issue would be that you can't have two people credited for 3B at the same time.

Rule 10.03(a) of the MLB rulebook reads as follows: When a player does not exchange positions with another fielder but is merely placed in a different spot for a particular batter (for example, if a second baseman goes to the outfield to form a four-man outfield, or if a third baseman moves to a position between the shortstop and second baseman), the official scorer should not list this as a new position.

So what you're saying is if someone replaces a guy and theres a shift on and hes not in the normal position then he cant use that for eligibility?

so Im trying to make a deal with MWG for his only catcher, but if he trades Castillo he is out of transactions and would be without a catcher thru the weekend, thus with an illegal lineup. He wants to know if playing 1 man down and having a legal lineup is a totally off the board.

Yes. Just wait until the week is over.
Or send him a catcher so his lineup is legal. IDK.
